Chang-Sung Jeong received the B.S. degree from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea, in 1981, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, USA, in 1985 and 1987, respectively. He was an assistant professor with POSTECH, Pohang, South Korea, from 1987 to 1992. He was an associate researcher with UCSC, Santa Cruz, CA, USA, from 1998 to 2000. He is currently a professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Korea University, Seoul, South Korea.
His research interests include distributed parallel computing, grid computing, ubiquitous computing and networked virtual computing, Recently, his research is focused on the development of distributed object-oriented virtual computing middleware which provides users with a semantic grid environment as well as the illusion that distributed resources interconnected by a network appears as one single virtual computer, and the architecture for the unified ubiquitous computing middleware which supports an integrated collaborative and pervasive computing environment on grid. Also, he is interested in the development of highly intensive applications such as stereo image processing and 3D visualization on collaborative grid and ubiquitous computing environment.
He is active in technical societies including IEEE, KISS, KSII, KGS, and GFK. He was on editorial board for Journal of Parallel Algorithms and Application in 1992-2002, and a program chair for the 6th International Conference for Computer Information Technology in 2006. Also, he has been working as a chairman of Collaborative Supercomputing Group in GFK(Global Forum in Korea) since 2001, and a chairman of Computer Chapter at Seoul Section of IEEE region 10 since 2000.
